Word Alive Church purpose to create a climate and environment that reflects God’s love to others. This is carried out in numerous ways in reaching outside of the walls of the church. Our After School Academic Program (A.S.A.P.) is one of the vehicles that allow us to walk alongside parents in the safety and academic success of their children. This academic program has served our neighborhoods, communities and families throughout the Columbia area for over ten years. We often say, “Once a child has experienced our after school academic program, they will do all they can to encourage their parents to let them continue.” The staff consists of loving adults and college students who are continually undergoing periodic educational training and safety training. The staff has undergone SLED background checks. The program run between 3:00pm and 6:00pm on school days and children are either picked up by one of our church buses or they are dropped off at our location by their school bus and a staff member is waiting at the drop off point to escort them safely into the building. Children are provided an opportunity to interact in a supervised setting with other children, complete pending homework assignments, provided healthy snacks, study, enjoy recreational time together and periodically go on fun and academic related field trips.
